FAQs About Home Remodeling
Thinking about remodeling your home? Our FAQs provide expert answers to common questions about the process, costs, timelines, and more.
What type of remodeling services do you offer?
At Blue Harmony Homes, we specialize in larger remodeling projects, additions and unique spaces. Our projects tend to be more complicated and need a team who understands the process and how to troubleshoot when issues arise.
Whether you are looking at a larger-scale remodel, adding a greenhouse, a pool or an expensive outdoor living space, we have a team that can navigate the process from initial concept to completion.
How long does a typical home remodeling project take?
Our typical bathroom projects take 3 to 4 months, kitchens are generally around 6 months and whole house remodeling projects and additions can take 9 to 12 months or more.
What is done with the debris?
All debris is removed from the property by our disposal partners. We also partner with ReStore and donate items when the opportunity arises.
Do you handle all aspects of the remodel, including design, construction and finishing?
We can handle all aspects of the remodeling process, but we also recognize the value our architectural and design partners add to the process. Depending on the project and client, we will make a recommendation for architectural and/or design services.
Do you provide warranties for your work?
We provide a standard 1-year warranty, but if something was clearly done incorrectly, we will address it beyond the initial year.
Is Blue Harmony Homes licensed and insured?
Yes, Blue Harmony Homes is licensed and insured.
Do I need permits for my remodeling project? Will you get them?
Whenever walls are opened, a permit is required. In some situations, only mechanical permits are required.
We handle the permitting process in addition to coordinating any necessary inspections and the final inspection.
What is communication like throughout the home remodeling process?
The remodeling process can be difficult to live through. Therefore, we believe communication is essential to ensure a successful project. Each homeowner likes to be communicated with in a different way, whether that is emails, text messages, phone calls or in-person meetings.
Some projects require recurring weekly meetings, while others can be managed with regular updates via text message or email. During a remodel, we also feel it is important for a customer to understand what is happening in their home each day and week, so we strive to provide regular updates throughout the project.
How do you handle unexpected issues or changes during the project?
With any construction project, there are always going to be unexpected issues and changes. Whenever something unexpected comes up during one of our projects, we take a step back, ask questions, gather any necessary information, and then communicate options and pricing, if applicable, back to the homeowner.
Our job is to provide the necessary information, whether it’s for an issue, change or other item, and work with the homeowner towards a solution that makes sense for them.
