FEATURED PROJECT
Certified Energy-Efficient Custom Home Build
Lisbon, Wisconsin
Intentional, Functional Living
This fully custom home blends thoughtful architecture, high-quality materials, and warm, family-friendly design. Every detail, from the mix-grade white oak plank flooring to the full-thickness solid wood floors that were site-finished, was purposefully selected to reflect the homeowners’ style while supporting everyday functionality for their active family of six. The interior trim package, second-floor staircase, and all cabinetry were crafted as part of a custom millwork package, adding character and long-lasting quality throughout the home.
Certified through Wisconsin’s Focus on Energy New Home Certification Program, this custom home ensures long-term comfort and efficiency. The project also holds personal significance, as it was built for a former co-worker and residential architect whom we worked alongside for years. Being trusted to build his family’s home was truly an honor. Today, the family is thrilled with the result, and with four kids, the well-planned mudroom has quickly become one of the home’s most-loved (and heavily used!) spaces.

Built Smart.
Built Efficient.
This home isn’t just beautiful, it’s built to work smarter too. It’s certified through Wisconsin’s Focus on Energy New Home Program, which means it’s designed to keep the family comfortable year-round while using energy efficiently. From high-performance windows to carefully chosen materials and insulation, every detail helps the home stay cozy, reduce energy use, and stand the test of time.
A Stunning First Impression
The entry sets the tone for the home, featuring a boldly painted front door, custom-milled staircase, and added panel detailing that elevate everyday function. A small peekaboo window near the stairs brings in light and visual interest without overwhelming the space. The foyer leads directly into the Great Room, where a coffered ceiling, large windows overlooking the backyard, and a Taj Mahal quartzite fireplace create a clean, cohesive gathering area. Together, these elements demonstrate intentional design that feels practical, durable, and well-coordinated from the moment you walk in.
Dustin’s Pro Tip
Before breaking ground on a new build, invest in a professional soil evaluation, especially if your lot has varying elevations, fill material, or unknown soil conditions. Early involvement from a soil engineer can prevent costly surprises and provide clear guidance on how to prepare your site properly.
Initial testing revealed that suitable soil to support the home was deeper than expected and would have resulted in 12 foot foundation walls. Instead of this we opted to backfill the excavation for the home with stone backfill to reduce the height of the foundation walls to 9 feet. We were able to do this by consulting with a soil engineer early in the process.
